Common Questions
At Least Some of the Answers You Seek, In One Place
How long does each therapy session take?
Our first meeting lasts an hour and 15 minutes. Subsequent meetings last 45 minutes.
How often do we meet?
At first I almost always recommend we meet weekly so that we can get to know each other and start to make progress. Once progress is under way, we often slow down to once every two weeks.
How long is a course of therapy?
That can vary widely, but I am always trying to work my way out of a job. Once parents and children feel like they have the "tools" to keep shrinking problems and move forward in life, we can part ways. In practice, that can be as short as four meetings, though it's typically longer. I am happy to provide an estimate once I get to know you.
What kind of therapy do you do?
I primarily employ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), though I sometimes throw in some Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). See the section on my practice for more details on my approach.
